TPP. Very Scary Stuff.

Reading about this makes me scared. And angry:

The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a global corporate coup that undermines democracy and makes corporations more powerful than government. It creates a “trade tribunal” system that allows corporations to sue governments for expected lost profits resulting from environmental, labor, health, consumer protection and other laws. The judges in the tribunals will be corporate lawyers on temporary leave from corporate job in order to rule on cases brought by corporations and then returning to their corporate job.

The role of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is to protect and promote public health by strengthening programs and policies governing both the safety of the U.S. food supply and accessibility to safe and effective medical products, including pharmaceutical drugs. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) threatens to undermine the FDA’s ability to carry out that mission, in a number of important ways

I live in a part of the world called Norway with my wife and two daughters. I worked as a telecom engineer for 20 years. Nowadays I am attending a helpdesk supporting colleagues with computer problems. I am also a hobby photographer who believe we ought to pay more attention to how we treat our planet and each other. I trust the reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and I am disappointed that leading politicians in my own and other countries more or less have been ignoring warnings from the scientists for 20 years.

      I feel that the possible consequences of the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership are very serious, and something that people should be concerned about, and I can’t understand why the media are so silent about it! So that’s what I’m trying to fix by publishing this information on my blog, where I know lots of people will read it… 🙂
