Never again

I watched “Blackfish – the movie” last weekend. And decided that I will never again pay to see an orca in captivity.

I live in a part of the world called Norway with my wife and two daughters. I worked as a telecom engineer for 20 years. Nowadays I am attending a helpdesk supporting colleagues with computer problems. I am also a hobby photographer who believe we ought to pay more attention to how we treat our planet and each other. I trust the reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and I am disappointed that leading politicians in my own and other countries more or less have been ignoring warnings from the scientists for 20 years.

    1. Thank you for commenting, Angie. I remember you blogged about the same subject recently. I haven’t been to SeaWorld, but I watched a similar show in Marineland, Antibes a few years ago. The movie made me feel ashamed. Why do we think we have the right to take these babies from their mothers and lock them up for years in small pools, just for our own entertainment? I found an interesting website about orcas in captivity, by the way. You find it here if you are interested: http://us.whales.org/wdc-in-action/fate-of-captive-orcas

      1. Thank you, Jan. I’ll take a look at the article. I agree with you. I felt ashamed — for having gone to SeaWorld. I can’t believe I actually thought those orcas were “saved”, that I believed those lies.
